Sounds like really solid ideas. You must have a lot of experience to inspire yourself from so many diverse niche worlds. GL!

For a model that can run offline, they've nailed how the website can too. And it appears like it's thinking about it! /s

I think it's about user retention. If people have fun on your website, they'll stick around and they might even read some text!

It's neat but it runs like a dog. I opened a couple of things and tried to move the window... I'd take a statically generated bunch of webpages over this. If you're going to make one of those multi window webpages looking thi

That "niche" market of ageing parents with legacy hardware is much bigger than the nerd hacker market of Arch linux.

Classic case of empowering two keywords and going to town with cliches, like most self help book style. It's a shame it became about that because there are some good points in there. Proper engineering used to be a bigger part of the w

Sounds like a good distro to use with your parents and grand parents, if they're not solely using iPads... That might be their target audience. What appeals to me about linux is the hackability and configurability. This takes it all aw

"saved by procrastination!" made me smile. One of the common cases of being offline first, disconnected etc. pays off. Don't rush. Work on Hawaiian clock!

There must be a term coined for AI degradation... At least with local LLM, it's crap, but it's consistent crap!

When would you absolutely need recursion that couldn't be fulfilled with a while loop?

Wasn't recursion a problem for early C and Pascal in those days anyway? They didn't have tail call optimisations. As in after X recursion, you'd get in trouble as the memory kept allocating new stack frames for every recurse.

I heart-fully disagree. Being professional crosses the bounds of paid work and unpaid work. It doesn't take much work to not leave a gigantic pile of trash behind you. If anything, it's an even more a self-responsible thing to do

Around 2020, our old lead dev, a1ex, after years of hard work, left the project. The documentation was fragmentary. Nobody understood the build system. A very small number of volunteers kept things alive, but nothing worked well.

Love this, old school vibe with a new school trick. The makefile is harder to comprehend than the source, which is a good omen. Note: 4KB... BUT calling upon curl, and via popen and not using libcurl... PS: your domain link has an extra `x`

That would hurt adoption. I understand things move fast but if you want people to make the switch other than hello world, it has to be at a minimum cosy. Sending them to hell and find your way out isn't a good move long term. I tried Z

This is kind of a hard read. I'm no mac fanboy but at some point I decided to replace the frankenstein world of computing by something roughly coherent. Clearly this person just wants hackability and tweakability, which Arch will give
