Doesn't sound like it. Seems like it appends the new versions of the functions and updates the global offset table.

I think if the world switched back to traditional advertising (which on the web for me means contextual targeting) and we stopped allowing third party ads to run a bunch of JS, I'd be willing to switch off my ad blockers. Until then, I

I scan it for different colors in VS Code quite often. Oops, something red down there. Or quick scan to see where the various colored things that represent git diffs are (red for deleted, green for new, blue for changed). But as you said, c

It's not uncommon. A web app can call navigator.registerProtocolHandler ( https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator/r... ) to become the default mail handler. GMail does this.

Comments like these remind that while I miss the US personally, I don't at all miss it professionally. While things in my current country (Norway) err on the side of making it damned near impossible to fire someone, the upside is as a

Hey, total stranger on the internet here - I have no qualifications to help someone with suicidal thoughts but I have been an engineering manager for a decade and I'm pretty decent at it. If you ever want to talk to someone about your

It sounds to me like you need to have a real discussion with your manager - this is what they're there for. Maybe their perception isn't as bleak. Maybe this is a case of imposter syndrome. Or maybe you really do need some improve

Impressive feat of engineering for one person! But is it really an alternative to Zapier? I mean, while Zapier is obviously about automation, it always felt that their big selling point was the sheer number of integrations they provide.

Looks cool but I find the use of "text selection blue" as the highlight color very off putting. Maybe it's just me.

No offense to the author (I don't really disagree with anything he's written) but the stuff he's talking about isn't the hard part about keeping code clean. The thing that I find hard about keeping code clean is: - time

I’m currently cross posting medium and hashnode but you’ve got a point there. Maybe time to say goodbye to medium. I’m not using their distribution/paywall anyway so all medium is to me is a really nice editor.

Probably a lame answer, but just general buzz about it on Twitter. I was moving from Medium (not a fan of their paywall practices and medium.com posts tend to fare poorly on HN). Didn't know dev.to existed until after I tried out HashN

I just started posting to HashNode this week as an alternative to Medium. So far so good. Can write posts in markdown and even sync them to a git repo.

The title should be that Facebook apologizes to its _customers_, not its _users_. Its customers are people buying ads, not the users using the social network. As the saying goes, if you're not paying, you're the product.
