Ecommerce sellers have higher margins (gross margin 40%) than the other services and businesses you mentioned. So they have more money to spend on Ads. Also Google competes with FB and has to split the advertising pie for those other servic

You can't really read laws in the negative. Laws only mean what they say. You can still for example "interfere" and be more than 8 feet away and pointing to this law won't help you.

Ah I just added this to my comment as you were typing it up. I've used this feature a lot too. Works well.

People also forget that you can use Preview to scan documents from your scanner rather than using whatever shitty software came with yours. Also, Preview > File > Import from iPhone > Scan Documents gives you a virtual scanner inst

Colleges already have a mechanism for determining chance of success in college, and degrees have data on the average income after graduation. It would be trivial for private lenders to take into account the school, factors in standard colle

Not really, if a private lender believes your degree will pay off then you'd be able to easily get a loan for top 50 schools.

Yup! Of course if app developers made sure to not use abandoned storage locations then they would not be affected. So here the issue can be mitigated in some way by both parties hence the shared responsibility.

Yes, this really strikes at the heart of the "shared responsibility" model with using the cloud. We believe that cloud service providers should implement some changes: 1. Check if the storage location (in this case s3 buckets) are

Kevin from Barrage Security here. This is our latest disclosure of a vulnerability affecting 10,000+ applications that use cloud storage services. Happy to answer any questions.

Waiting months means you don't get security fixes for months.

Upgrade to the latest version only after its been available for 7 days. Obviously this won't work if everyone starts doing it.

I did say FAANG :) Believe it or not this is just for security data. But that fact combined with SOA leads to lots of logs. (5Pbs is the uncompressed amount, but we decompress incoming data, then ETL).

Wow this is an oversimplification. I've had years of experience working in a data lake within a FAANG handling > 5 PBs of data per day ingest. There's so many things this misses: 1. What if the domain teams don't actually

Having one user isn't really that bad of a limitation for a family, just share the login. Unless you want to prevent certain family members from accessing certain devices at a network level for some reason.

I use it for a simple use case of connecting to my home assistant server from outside my network without having to open ports. I just installed the tailscale app on my home assistant server (ubuntu) and then installed it on my iPhone. Then

I really do think this dogfooding is why AWS is successful. Amazon's businesses run a lot of their workloads on AWS. Amazon is AWS's largest customer. So AWS has the benefit of having thousands of heavy use customers internally to

Having recently worked on a data team at FAANG, all this is an ops nightmare for the team running the platform itself if you want to ensure data quality for everyone querying the data. Im talking when you have hundreds of data sources and h

And this my friends is why I live in San Diego! I really do think tech will take off in this area soon. Its (relatively for CA) on the cheaper side for housing and great for remote work.

I always thought this would be a cool feature to have in a http library. The library knows the best way to convert a curl command to its own internal representation. Something like requests.from_curl()

You should add a component that tracks your head in the browser and then re-renders the perspective. Should be fairly easy and would make it a lot more immersive.

At least for family, create a free family sharing account and add your wife. That'll silence the beeping when you're not around.
