Running this on Google Cloud Run with Postgres will be a pretty good idea. It is super difficult to earn money from freemium developer tools.

It would be a good idea, most websites you don't need a password to login anyway, you just need to uze the password-reset form each time!

And in the blogpost they don't even mention cost as one of the top reasons they are moving, which could justify it. They show that their latency has gone down, but that is not always the reason just because it correlates.

I personally like Google Cloud, but this blogpost feels a bit like a advertisement, it seems pretty clear that Google Cloud has offered a better pricing deal than Azure could and that is why the are moving. > GCP offered the performance

I think that analytics on small websites does not make sense anymore! A lot of people have adblockers these days and those often block Google Analytics for privacy reasons and also just for speed/less work. Also with bots that execute

I really wish there existed more tools, it seems like there is a gap for some tooling. It would be a simple one that could check the git log and see what files has changed since last time. Or check the hash of each folder and compare it to

You can use Google Cloud Container Registry and it is basically free, you only pay for the raw Google Cloud Storage that you use. No fee for using it and limit on repos you can have. https://cloud.google.com/container-regist

I like they way they highlight that combining Ruby and nodejs makes for a complicated Dockerfile, while their example after only includes Ruby and not nodejs. And do they propose a buildpack called ruby-nodejs, because in many cases you don

There is apparently more than 40.000 packages that are es module ready, that is quite a lot, more than I imagined!

I tried improving mdn with examples of window.alert, which is laughable right now, but my PR was not approved because MDN was structured differently than the browser API. https://github.com/mdn/interactive-examples/

I tried adding better examples for "alert"s for example, but my PR got not approved because it didn't fit the exact structure of how the wiki is structured. So they make it intentionally worse than w3schools :) https:/&

The biggest problem with IMAP from my point of view is spam, that is why there is only a couple of email providers in the world, although still decentralized, they trust each other more than any newcomers, which is kind of preventing this i

Have the same thoughts but I wouldn't start a project where you can get it hosted by a cloud provider, uptime and backup is more important than features at the start, where scaling doesn't matter as much.

Yes, I would be unable to do my job, and I would have to consider the project security higher than features then. If I knew a project had been compromised, the next step should always be to move away from it or fix the issue. The solution w

Yes, that would be a tool that would be very appreciated and I think even companies would like to adopt it. Changing maintainers behaviors can maybe be difficult, so starting from a normal user could maybe be easier?

Yes, that could also be a good solution! Even with tree shaking you could still review it and encrypted blobs would be a great thing to look out for!

Yes, so correct franciscop! If there were a better incentive together with a trust system it would relieve the pressure so much of the OSS developers.
