There's few entrepreneurs I look up to as much as Spencer Fry. Well written story of Carbonmade's story.

I loved the quote from David when he said selling to Fortune 500 companies takes "strippers and steaks." Overall, great interview. I'd love to see Jason C take on Jason Fried and DHH.

Go easy on the help tooltip pop-up things. It's unexpected and does more to startle me than help me. The text is too long. Shorten the tooltips to a sentence. Also, add a slight delay to the tooltips: http://snipplr.com/view/4163/highlight

I agree that work needs to be done to optimize websites specifically for the iPad, but most accessible* websites I can think of now would work just fine. * Accessible means no Flash, no unnecessary JavaScript, and clean markup practices.

Their products have definitely grown, but I think they've improved rather than falling victim to feature creep. Look at what Basecamp could've become without their constant "you can always do less" mentality: http://www.microsoft.com/proje

The breach definitely sounds illegal, but why the hell were they storing unencrypted passwords in the first place? When I first learned about databases, that is the very first thing I learned never to do.

They would either have to type the date input or you could have a fallback date picker using jQuery (or whatever framework) that produces the same format as the built-in date picker.

True, but why not make the experience better for browsers that support these standards and have a decent, albeit not identical, fallback for IE?

Spencer might not agree, but why not go at it alone until you find the right person? If you're driven enough to start your own company in a space you know a lot about, you should be driven enough to do so alone, at least temporarily.

In my mind, scalability is the best problem a startup could ever have. It means people demand your product so much that you need to concentrate on making more and more of your product. Definitely better than too little demand.
