UIUC was 2nd. I was on this team. We did a Street Fighter browser-based game controlled by webcam. You can play against friends over the internet in realtime. MIT was 3rd with a chrome extension called "minimap" that allows you to scroll in

if you go into settings, you can change xbox music to open directly to "My Music" Xbox music has actually been one of the highlights of my overall negative Windows 8 experience. The free streaming service has a fairly extensive library.

I recently did an on campus interview with Microsoft. Before the interview, they sent me an application to fill out with my basic information, interests, etc. The application looked like absolute garbage if you opened it with Wordpad, Libre

The problem though is that there is still a line, and only one line. Either republican or democrat. If there were a third major party in between Republican and Democrat, Romney would probably fit pretty well in that one. He wouldn't be stuc

A social feature they could adopt from G+ hangouts: You can watch youtube videos while doing group video chat. Anyone on the chat can pause, push a button to speak over the audio, etc. It' great for sharing videos with people and having the

As a CompE in his final semester of undergrad, I resent this characterization. I've seen what the tests and MPs from ten years ago looked like, and they're a joke compared to what we see nowadays. Even when you consider the number of cheate

The casing of the Nexus One has none of those problems AFAIK. The macbook pros are quite durable to scratches and scuffs, so perhaps they could have used the same material/processes. Not sure about the iPhone 5 since I haven't handled one i

This is the type of thing I learned in my first semester of undergrad as a CompE. This information is not a revelation for 90% of people with programming experience unless I'm greatly overestimating our collective knowledge.

Perfectly willing to pay per song, per album, per movie, per game, etc. What matters is the method and timeliness of delivery. If I can pay for this new episode of HIMYM and start streaming it within 3 minutes on my phone, tablet, etc. I'm

Well to be fair Harvard isn't ranked that highly for CS, and this single data point doesn't say a whole lot about it either. You'll find CS undergrads that are willing to enter, but would place last in this competition at MIT, Stanford, Cal

Well at least in ECE/CS fields, we have the luxury of more liberal hiring practices in which personal projects on resumes and githubs can matter just as much as what school you went to if not more. It's much harder to measure the quality of

As an Asian American with parents that broke most of the stereotypes regarding "tiger moms", I hate to hear stories like this. My blood boils when I hear Asian parents talking about how they only want their kids to go to either Stanford, MI

Unfortunately you'll still be missing out on lots of games, even with Steam for Linux. Initially, Steam for Linux will only be good for a few Valve titles and indie games.

I seriously doubt this question would be asked during an interview for any position that didn't involve a good deal of low-level knowledge. If you're hiring a hardware engineer or a systems engineer, why wouldn't you hire the one that under

As a computer engineering undergrad with a < 3.0 GPA at a top 5 CompE school with 1 more semester to go, I've felt a lot of pressure to lie about my GPA on my resume just to be above the 3.0/3.3/3.5 cutoffs that so many jobs have. It's
