Back then, people didn't know any better than to trust the scripted talking head coming-out of the magic box across from the bed. I've never understood why newsreaders have been afforded any gravitas. Cronkite was much more of a reporter an

That depends on what incentives you could wring out of the state and local governments. If you're a large company, you were once a small company and there's been no place better than silicon valley to grow-up as a young company. I think thi

That's a good point. It's been a good place to "raise kids"--if your kids are little companies because there are lots of great people to work with, impedance is low because of shared norms, and outsiders are aware of the importance of this

NaCL is a really interesting project, but it's x86-specific. A jitted NaCL based on LLVM makes more sense for native Chrome/ChromeOS apps.

The New York Times sure is ticked at Apple for leaking Jobs' liver story to the WSJ. Guess we know which is the paper of record, eh?

It's a different kind of work. I've purchased several typefaces with beautiful letterforms that are useless for coding on my mac because they are not hinted or hinted poorly. A couple more have really bad metrics that the "height"/"width" s

Menlo is nice. I use it as the default in Xcode, Terminal, and Safari under 10.6. It looks to have been tweaked from Bitstream Vera Sans for Quartz's anti-aliasing—like Consolas was tweaked from TheSansMono for Cleartype. The letter forms i
