There is evidence, it’s just anecdotal and every contrary comment is the same.

Because people would brigade videos they politically disagreed with even if it was good content. I’m seeing those videos now. Taking away dislikes has a chilling effect on brigading.

YouTube still uses dislikes to keep those out of your stream.

Completely disagree. Getting rid of that button has significantly cleaned up the associated comments sections. I’ve also noticed a general improvement in my recommendations. Great move imo.

Autocomplete models with incredibly dense neural networks and extremely large data sets. Repeat after me humans are autocomplete models, humans are autocomplete models

Saying it’s a autocomplete does not do justice to what amounts to an incredibly complicated neural network with apparent emergent intelligence. More and more it’s seems to be not all that different from how the human brain potentially does

Ha it’s been interesting to see this term gradually showing up in parlance and turning itself into a real job over time.

Cars are one of India’s larger exports. Cars are definitely manufactured in India- TATA, Mahindra, Maruti etc.

You can oversimplify anything like that. How hard is it to make Maps? Just digitize an existing map.

Yep, if I’m fully in office I accept that that is my reality. With hybrid I dread the days I have to go in.

I don’t understand this perspective. Being able to see people through video in meet/zoom I don’t feel like I’m missing out on any aspect of in person meetings. Outside water cooler sessions that we do virtually as well, what else am I

Yes they are anchored to the schist substrate. The point I’m trying to make is you generally don’t build to account for earthquakes if you’re not on a fault line.

Well New York isn’t on an active fault line. I think California would fare pretty well, as much as can be expected after the big one.

Sounds like prompt engineering will have strong overlaps with the legal field and hacker culture.

I think it’s something to celebrate. It’s the best case scenario when you’re acquired by a megacorp.

Teams isn’t that bad imo. It’s no Google meet but it’s decent enough. I prefer both of those over Zoom.

I use torrents for full videos of porn, UFC, ebooks, professional tutorials, expensive software and for anything that isn’t available on Netflix since that’s the only subscription service I have. Also subscription services don’t let you sel

My experience is the exact opposite. Managers who code are usually talking about minutia bordering on micromanagement, never put or have enough time to develop people skills, ignore career development and growth, have little to no project m

I think google meet is way cleaner feeling and I would pick it over zoom or teams. We do continue to use Zoom for very large 200+ meetings with the idea being that Zoom handles those better than Meet. Not sure if that information is outdate

Yes, there’s no telling how states like Russia secure that information, disseminate it to other paying customers, leak info about high value citizens to use as kompromat etc.

Google. It’s still hands down the best way to find information. If I’m doing research I would start with google and then liberally use SciHub. Nowadays, for brand new areas of interest I start with chatGPT to get an overview then drill down

Google brings visitors to your site for free or no one would find it in the first place. You can always robot opt out and then your information is “secure”.

Why would keywords disappear? Wouldn’t you just use keywords that appear in the user input and response to serve ads?

I use google in confluence with chatGPT. When I’m researching something, chatGPT gets me started and points me in the right direction but then I use google to find first hand sources/more detail/images/videos etc.

I don’t like it. That’s how you end up with kids that are allergic to everything and have weak immune systems overall. I understand the CO2 control but let the dust and pollen flow!
