That's normal progression. Hardly anyone at Microsoft used Azure in the beginning either, it takes a few years for teams to move infra and deprecate old stuff. Same for Amazon, it took them very long also, including dedicated internal

Well, it's pretty obvious Google wont be able to beat either AWS or Azure in the next few years... How can information like this leak or even be entertained internally? Google is famous for terminating, even successful products. Best t

What is so fascinating about security is that the same problems keep popping up again once in a while - I remember the Turkish i issues being a big problem in early mid 2000s during all the security pushes that went through software enginee

I'm not sure how this ended up being about wealth taxes. If you get RSU pre IPO, you have to pay regular tax on the value at IPO time. So, if you get a billion dollar in RSU, then you pay a couple hundred million in tax at time of IPO.

Did the Uber guy have options or restricted stock units? For restricted stock units one has to pay tax at time of vesting/IPO afaik. But as founder things are probably different...

When the stock vested at IPO sometime earlier this year, he had to pay at least 30% taxes on it - in the US. That is not money he could have had without actually selling some. No? This is a serious question, so I'm not understanding th

VB.net had literally nothing to do with VB6. I know so many hobbyists, and even professional developers, that were totally lost. Microsoft really messed that one up, similar with what they did with Silverlight.

The comment didnt talk about memorizing passwords, it's more about storing password manager files offline for very valuable assets. It would not be smart to store crypto currency private keys or recovery pass words on main computer for

This is so interesting, I had no idea there are still such big VB6 projects out there. Is this related to a particular industry? Too bad Microsoft didn't open source it.

This is not true. If malware runs on your machine and there is no password manager storing 1400 passwords, the malware cannot pivot to 1400 destinations. However, if there is a password manager on the device that the malware gains access to

HyperV is different virtualization technologoy compared to Virtuakbox and most others. It actually virtualizes everything, whereas others typically are a level higher up. It seems both at the same time often doesn't work that well.

It was fast and slick - WinForms (and generally VS.net) was always slow in comparison with too many jobs and options - and WPF, same as WCF, is just an abstraction nightmare (and even slower compared to WinForms). People want simple, that&#

VB was basically terminated by Microsoft in favor of .net. It would have been (maybe still would be) amazing to see what the community would pull off with VB6 if Microsoft would open source it. VB6 IDE was so far ahead of it's time, ev

Google hasn't become a terrible place to work, it's just not as great as it was 5 years ago. I think most people would agree with that. Also, why can a burger company not be as good or better then an ad company to work for?

Why? In and Out Burger has been in the top ten list for many years. Also, their burgers are very good too.

This. Microsoft Office and O365 are magnitudes more useable and mature compared to GSuites. This wasn't clear to me until I'm now at a shop that only uses Google - its like a giant step back tech and usability wise. A year in now,

As soon as you have a semi-complex project makefiles or some other custom scripts are required. Go tools alone won't do. There is this attitude that sees Go as the center of the universe, it is not. If people say idiomatic, it makes me

But in that case you have to travel to a remote location (most likely using a car or plane ironically). Hence, is it so far fetched that if you want to explore space in future you will do it from a different vantage point? Like via a satell

Isn't it obvious that this will happen? It's like taking a picture of nature and having airplane evidence in it, or take a picture of a city or even countryside and there are cars in it. I'm sure the same was said about cars

It's called hyperlink and doesnt require any code or javascript to run. Maybe excessive requests to same IP could be throttled by a user agent. An outbound browser firewall could helps also.
