Yeah we'll add that at some point. It's a bit trickier than it seems because a lot of Obsidian configuration and app functionality is vault-specific. E.g. what theme should be used? What plugins should be available? Does autocompl

You can view notes with Obsidian CLI. See the "read" commands. But also you can do that with your built-in command line tools. https://help.obsidian.md/cli

Thanks for your support! Sync is end-to-end encrypted so the server doesn't know about specific paths in your vault. You would have to set those permissions at the filesystem level, or with the tool you're using.

Startup time in Obsidian could be better (we're working on it!), but performance is more than startup time. It's making interactions fast throughout the entire app. Obsidian is only three developers but we spend a lot of time shav

There are a few companies in this space, notably Ecovative, who have been trying to make mycelium-based packaging for almost two decades. The problem is that it takes around 7 days for each piece of packaging to "grow", and the fi

For those that didn't read the article Obsidian Entertainment (the video game company) has AI support that hallucinates and tells you to email Obsidian (the note-taking company) instead.

I love that it uses Flexoki for the color palette. I never thought I'd see it so widely adopted!

It wasn't obvious to me at first but it appears this was released in 2023. The last release on the repo is from October 2024.

In case you missed it, Obsidian is now free for work. The commercial license is an optional donation, similar to the Catalyst license. https://obsidian.md/blog/free-for-work/

(CEO of Obsidian here) Yes, on desktop, Obsidian plugins can access files on your system, unless you run it in a container. On iOS, iPadOS, and Android the app is sandboxed so plugins are more constrained. This is not unique to Obsidian. VS

It's so strange that a company designed around syncing files created the .paper format which only stores a URL, and no actual content. It could have been a great Markdown client.
