Radius r = 1080 meters. Volume of a sphere = (4/3) * pi * r^3 Surface area of a sphere = 4 * pi * r^2 We want to find x, some unit of measure. The volume of the sphere in units of x^3 is: ((4/3) * pi * r^3) / x^3 The surface

What do you mean a joke? Looking at the blockchain, it seems to be a full fledged, serious, Ponzi scheme. They're taking in BTC and paying it out again to the early investors. EDIT: +1 to ryanjshaw for showing the blockchain: https:&

What is amazing is that (at the time of this writing), they've had 205 BTC deposited. At today's value, that's $140,000 USD. For a site that looks to be just over one week old. In a way, this is almost sort of like gambling

The function try blocks is new to me. It's actually kind of elegant (for C++). Granted, the reason I've probably never encountered it in the wild is that there are probably very few scenarios where you have a member in the initi

Sorry. You're right, UW isn't the only co-op program in the world and in fact, OP is not an alumnus. I guess I just demonstrated my own confirmation bias.

Turning 32 in a month. Oldest code is a JS version of the game "lights" I wrote when I was 16 (March 30, 1998). I remember writing it the night before an essay for English class was due because it was way more fun to code. A co

When I started in 2000, it was around $3000 per term all in (tuition, co-op fee, and all the other misc. fees). When I graduated in 2005, it was $4200 per term. That's an increase of 7% per year on average. From 2005 to now (@ $6300)

Right. Sorry, in case I wasn't clear, the HTTP proxy acts as a proxy for HTTP on port 80, but tunnels HTTPS traffic (and anything else including ssh) on port 443. The tunnelling is done using the HTTP CONNECT verb.

Actually, one thing I've found useful is keeping an sshd listening on port 443. I know, I know, sacrilege reusing the HTTPS port, right? The benefit of this is that it can allow you to tunnel through an HTTP proxy (e.g., like in a cor
