It's funny, that's the first thing that hit me (Lobster). If you're dealing with Graphic Designers/Art Directors they will notice right away.

I would be interested to find out how MikaMobile did sales wise with their Kindle Fire version of Battleheart. It would be a good gauge to base what the total potential a developer has for supporting the Fire and ignoring the general Androi

I would disagree with #2, At work my email inbox is certainly a todo list. I use IM, SMS, Twitter, Facebook, Forums to converse. Actually 99% of my personal email is companies sending me updates (we got your online payment etc.) It's funny

I think you're missing the point, If you're in this just to get wealthy there are many other professions that offer a much safer route to get there (Lawyer, Doctor) I don't think you just fall into being an entrepreneur for the money, other

I don't think that the team at Loopt deserves anything less than a huge amount of respect. They built something big and it did not work out, it happens. It's easy to sit and play armchair quarterback but I doubt anyone who has ever tried to

Good point, Sony still has the market for portable cassette players. The problem is that that market is dead and long replaced. I was just discussing this yesterday, the best thing Apple has done is to not let it's prior success prevent it

It seems like that would be really, really expensive unless NASA actually wanted to help them out. I think it's mutually beneficial NASA is trying to reach a younger generation as they struggle to stay relevant given that they don't even ha

Not sure how long this will last given the industries history of downgrading plans after launch however for now it's a step forward to be able to use the data you purchase the way you want to.

Totally understood, and I'm well aware of the increased memory footprint required once they are uncompressed. Way back in 08 when I was working on my first iPhone app you had to be very careful with memory a small animation with 120 images

Apple pulled a clever ninja word dice, knowing that most consumers don't really know or care what the difference is. The problem Apple faces is that in BestBuy, Target Etc.. you will have sales people that don't know a lemon from an orange

Do you think It's a bad thing to learn how to be physically healthy? There have been plenty of studies that show a direct correlation between being active and increased brain function.

It's very easy to finde the OSM Licence and even easier to understand that the most important they ask for is to be properly credited. Whoever green lighted this over at Apple is going to have a very bad day.

It seems Apple uses a "modified" png standard for iOS (enabled by default) that compresses the images even more when they are added to the App Bundle. http://iphonedevwiki.net/index.php/CgBI_file_format#Decoding

Apple has been known to build the factories for the suppliers or at least contributing to the cost to secure the products coming out of said factory. I remember them building a factory with Samsung (ironic) and Foxxconn.

Exactly, Apple sells around 2mil+ Macs/Qtr most of which are laptops however they sell 15+mil iPads. It's easier to get volume deals on 15 million displays then it is 1-2mil.

Ouch, Just ordered 32gb 4g (AT&T) $780 with tax. If I were not using it for development it would hurt a lot more however it still is about double what I would be comfortable with for my own use.

I did a test a 1024x768 PNG vs the Same PNG at 2048x1536. 299k vs 664k. So for raster images it more than doubles the footprint, however if you use vector assets there should be little impact.
