Ideally yes, it's running on a different machine. But most certainly a different process. For the queue, I've wrapped redis and rabbitmq clients with a simple retry logic that re-enqueues the job on failure to send. It's abou

Regardless of which package you use for delivering email, I can't recommend enough to put the email delivery code into an async job queue that automatically retries. Even with major providers there are enough occasional blips that you

Really neat. I enjoyed scrolling to earth. After that it became painful. Thankfully, the solution was easy: Open Chrome Inspector Console: $('.essay').css({ left: '20px', marginBottom: '15px', maxWidth: '6

Good Ol Hacker News, regurgitating something from 2 years ago: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=4031699 That said, Aseem is very sharp. Nice to see this come up for discussion again.

This has been addressed on http://quoteinvestigator.com/2013/03/06/artists-steal/ tl;dr: In conclusion, in 1892 an important precursor of this family of expressions was published. The author was W. H. Da

My first reaction to "Free. Open." is where's the github link? I know you're funding the development with KickStarter, but free and open projects should still having the planning and initial development in the open. That way you can get fee

I think because some class of people wonder if a $5 app would better perform. I think it's hard for 53 to succeed that way however, because you have a finite number of users. By making features an in-app purchase, they effectively monetize

Using eBay these days feels like playing World of Warcraft. If you're a high level eBay user, it's a fantastic place to move goods, but god forbid someone new signs up to buy or sell something. Just like what it must be like to sign up and

Clipboard dev here, wanted to share one tidbit that isn't featured in the blog. If you highlight and copy in Chrome, you can paste straight into Clipboard, without having to do anything other than have the page open. It's by far my favorite

We fixed it on the blog. We still have to address it on the main site. Google's Open Sans looks awesome on OSX and Windows/IE & Firefox. But it's totally busted on Chrome on W7. Go Figure.

It was very well said by gwf: This is a race to the bottom in terms of sustainable pricing. I love the free plan but who knows how it'll play long term.

Nothing jumps out at me as significant to bump the version to 0.9. Can someone explain what makes certain changes worthy of the version change?

Having the comfort access feature, and having a car stolen many years ago, there's no way I would trade one of my most enjoyed features for a lower risk of car theft. The reality is that if someone wants your car they're going to get it.

I prefer the term "Services" over "Operations". Services is where the logic of your application should live, and services should be HTTP (or any protocol) agnostic. They should only speak in models and native types, and should abstract all

I'd love to use Stripe, however the 2.9% fee is a total deal breaker. I'm currently using Payflow Link (by PayPal and Verisign) and I pay a flat rate of $20 a month plus 500 incl monthly transactions. I can get more at 0.10 per transactio
