The demo video is really impressive. Most websites have terrible search functionality, and google's offering is pretty sucky too. This market is absolutely huge.

Great post. Backbone made all of my code faster and simpler to maintain, too, and perhaps more importantly - easier to think about.

You're missing it dude. Columbus' conclusion was wrong when he started, but he had the right instincts to start sailing. This is what PG is saying - you don't know the future, so start sailing in an interesting direction and maybe you'll

>> This is a very good point but I don't think that offsets the downsides. The downsides of out of date documents are 1% of the total cost of construction. A project may have 1-3% margin for a GC, so this is an enormous number. Y

Our approach is as practical as it can be - the actual builders need drawings and the drawings are usually delivered in PDF. We've found very few of our customers get the DWG files themselves, and even if they do, they are easily exported

Thanks - among our first 20+ companies, all our users have iPads. We haven't seen any Android tablets in the field, actually.

iPad is the dominant tablet platform (phones might have been different). We may do Android eventually - our backend is written to support web and iOS already.

Not the good kind of innovation. Some nerds won an argument about HTTP semantics. Rails used to understand the importance of convention. This just seems silly and meaningless, change just for change.

The DB Query test is pretty interesting, actually. It draws results into a much closer range, and shows that your bottleneck for WebApp/DB style apps will probably be your database.

RIM has pretty deep enterprise integration compared to everyone else. Presumably they could leverage a lot of their existing software (on the backend - push, mail, messaging, etc) plus some great Android apps?

Invoke dynamic means less of a need for C-Extensions, which is probably one of the largest sources of pain for JRuby compatibility. The JVM is better at running plain old ruby code now, so there's less need to go outside of it with C or Ja
