If anyone read Confessions of an Rx Drug Pusher, it's pretty easy to see why most doctors will never advise against pain killers. The incentive to write more prescriptions is just too high. Also fentanyl is super scary

The common contributing factors I know are heavy meals before sleep, prolonged lack of sleep, inconsistent sleeping patterns and stress. But its true, the paralysis always happens when sleeping on the back.

The key is to not fight it or keep forcing your body to move. The best move is to relax, go back to sleep, then attempt waking up at some other point. I have experienced headaches after forcing my body to move during that paralysis phase.

Experts should write best practices/hacks/best methods to improve the learning curve and discovery that others have to go through. I understand that doing so sometimes makes one obsolete vs the younger employees but its essential.

HN and podcasts. If its relevant, I usually pick it up from conversations in podcasts. Most of whats considered news these days is opinion pieces and people trying to predict what happens in the future and pretty much no one gets it right.
