Business is bad. The number of restaurants and bars I see closing on an almost daily basis is getting sad. My friends in the F&B industry here confirm that they're hurting. Bad. Hospitality is hit even harder with hotels at 30% occ

(For context — am an expat living in HK.) Living in HK the last few months has been frustrating for me, primarily because of growing spread of misinformation and the untrustworthy reporting on the situation. It's getting hard to know w

Chinese grammar is refreshingly simple. I'm currently learning Chinese and it was shocking to me how easy it is to sensibly express ideas with very basic grammar (and some really funny idiosyncratic phrasings like… dong bu dong).

Before blaming Switzerland, perhaps best to take a look at places such as the U.S. and Delaware, which gets even more of the world's shady business.

I'm a VC and I would be ok with this arrangement. It's important that the patent is owned by the company, but if the company ends up failing, I've already lost my money anyways, and the likely value I'll get out of liqui

Perhaps you could have an agreement in place that should the company be dissolved, the patent gets reassigned back to him.

ITA Matrix is my favorite powerful flight search engine. It lets you filter by aircraft, among many other things. You have to learn what essentially amounts to a really obscure query language to use it effectively.

The 757 is similar to the 737-MAX10 except for that nasty MCAS crashing business.

Most airline websites and search engines will show you which type of aircraft a flight is on in the results. Alternatively, Google Flights or ITA Matrix can show you. You don't always get to find out easily which variant of an aircraft

Been robbed at gunpoint in San Francisco. Guess where this will never happen? Hong Kong where I live now but where people are now afraid to visit because they think it's Syria.

I'm 28 and at the height of my career, but I've just started making education a priority again. Still working full, but also taking 3h of intensive classes every day in something completely unrelated to my work (learning Chinese).

It doesn't. Not saying that we should throw in jail any accuser who fails to prove their case. But if it's proven they made it up, then we should. There are three outcomes, not two: proven guilty, inconclusive, proven not guilty.

Hello from HK :). Quick nitpick: the Sino-British Joint Declaration was signed in 1984 between Margaret Thatcher and Zhao Ziyang (really on behalf of Deng Xiaoping). 1997 was the year of the "handover."
