Photoshop "killer"? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Julia is a young language, so I'm not surprised about the lack of libraries. I am wondering about the future... is it, as a language, capable of these things?

I understand that Julia is fast and designed for computation. Does it have other uses such as web, network building or games? If you aren't a scientist is there a reason to get excited about Julia?

"Can you teach someone to be an entrepreneur?" Can a government? No. Can an impersonal bureaucracy? No. Can a major corporation? No. Can a committee? No. Can you? Yes. People can do wonderful things. Inspire others. Open eyes. Lig

In defense of the PHP devs here, I think calling PHP "server herpes" was sort of asking for it.

Apple has increased the number of MBAs since Jobs passed. See: http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2012/05/24/apple-tim-cook-ceo/ This may indicate a corporate shift from a visionary outlook to a managing perspe

My guess is that Valve is being watched by every other game maker. I wonder what is being said behind closed doors in meetings with a lot of suits. If Valve is successful, I don't think they will be alone for long.

I dated a woman who was born blind. She could listen to JAWS speak text faster than I can read. If you really want to know how your website "looks" to a blind person, ask one. Every state has an association for the blind. I am sur

I have read that having a company daycare makes attaining insurance difficult. You are bringing on a large liability by having children on the property, and insurance rates will reflect that. The concept sounds nice but there are significan

Agreed. I know of a forum that has barely changed its design since 1997-1999. It loads fast and has many members. The focus is on content over appearance. These javascript-heavy UIs feel heavy, almost syrupy, by comparison.

Come to think of it, train track sensors would be a pretty good idea for a startup. There could be an app that will message the phone if the user is in the area of an intersection where a train is approaching.

I don't know what safety measures are used, if any. It can take a train moving at 50 mph up to a mile to stop after the engineer pulls the emergency brake. If someone can see the train coming it can't stop before it hits. The nigh
