The title isn't quite accurate. This isn't about SwiftUI at all, or even Cocoa. It's simply how to launch a process with Foundation. While it's true the new property executableURL isn't documented, the old launchP

That's a big if. From what I've read, SwiftUI isn't even a great Mac/iOS GUI framework yet. And Windows and Linux are drastically more different than those two.

Swift wasn't originally open-source, either.

Random numbers, at least, are now part of the standard library. As for the rest, it depends on what you consider "basic functionality". AppKit/UIKit is probably never going to be ported.

This is all awfully vague. Accordingly, all the comments are just talking past each other. What does "85% functional" mean? How exactly do you measure that? For that matter, what does "OOP" mean? PG published a note f

PDF diverged from Postscript years ago. Microsoft’s binary Excel format is not XML -- you’re thinking of its replacement. It was COM/OLE or some such.

I'm not as anti-JVM as I once was, though the recent licensing changes have left me confused and nervous. I read their licensing FAQ (again) and I still can't tell if I'm allowed to include recent versions of their JVM in my

I wrote my own CSV code. That's only about 10 issues, and I understand them all, and they're easy to handle, and to test (unlike, say, threading issues, or OS bugs that don't happen on my computer). That wasn't even clo

It happens. XPM/PBM/XBM lost to TIFF (and later PNG). Postscript lost to PDF. OpenOffice.org XML couldn't displace Excel's Binary File Format. As much as I wish that beauty or usability was the primary indicator of ma

But that's exactly the issue. Pick one subset, and it's 0. Pick a different subset, and it's 1. There is no rule which always makes sense.

C++ pow() is a function of doubles, not ints. You can't define it in terms of std::accumulate.

This works for Google because they want you to only use Chrome. That's how Google engineers work. For the rest of us, it's a reminder of how increasingly troublesome it is that window managers are tied to the OS, and (on 2/3
