Mhh documentation. It is thankless work. I've been spearheading a continuous deployment project for my team here at microsoft. A team with fairly poor documentation. As much as everyone laments on this issue I get push back from my managers

You're assuming non elasticity in price. Charge more, work fewer hours, and begun subcontracting where possible while maintaining oversight on the work.

Nice down vote. I'm serious how impressive is a 35$ tablet? The core component cost on a lot of the technology we use is fairly low most of the expense is in R&D and advertising. Things like 64gb flash drives and so forth can be priced

What, is this not how we've been using design patterns all along? I always used these patterns to simplify the explanation of how the architecture should or could work. I've never referred to some master cheat sheet of patterns I can copy a

Yes. Large code base, large number of intemediary files and bin places. Compiling itself is an issue of course also but i'm already on a fairly high end i7 chip with tri channel ddr. More cpus or faster cpus would be nice but I'll take a fa

Running 3 raided SSD drives on my home workstation . . . seriously considering upgrading to one or more raided hyperOs DDR2 Ram Disk Drives. The write latency is nasty on compile time.

Is LINQ even in favor anymore. I think we're all about the entity framework now which appears to be more or less ORM with an auto update component for references to the orm objects.

Yeah I generally do, if object_in_cache_of_object return object else if object_in_cache_of_object_list add object to chace_of_object, return object else populate cache_of_object_list, populate cache_of_object return object

Mhh the premature optomization school of thought. Kiss good and all but I think einstein had it right with his "Everything should be made as simple as possible, but not simpler." A modest amount of additional upfront is probably worth it i

Caching can only go so far . . . eventually you are going to need to refactor or tweak schemas and adjust queries. Especially if you are dealing with user centric / heavy write data although yes cache on write can also reduce some stra

Hopefully we are self hosting at this point and smart enough to apply SAL and VCC to our compiler itself.

For some reason this reminds me of being 14 writting assembly to take over the graphic card and reading various LaMothe books on game programming. Looks nice on the new firefox, no display on ie9. I think i'll stick to canvas but definetly

I think it's important to ask if laws and the justice system are meant to punish those who have broken moral codes or if they are meant to maintain and protect society. Where you fall on that gradient is going to effect how you view th

Good stuff. We had some issues along these lines at my last job. We were never clever enough to auto-restart though and just perodically restarted things manually and disabled opcode caching.
