It's not hard , but it's another barrier to entry. On a personal note, I'd much rather try a language in a browser, then download it if I like it.

It's better in sunlight. I was initially skeptical; after using an iPad outdoors I found it hard to believe matte could be worse! But some quick research seems to confirm your point. Does anyone know of a solution to using screens outdoor

Yeah, that's the idea of CAPTCHAs. In reality they can be solved by bots, given enough computing power and several attempts.

Forget about imposing certain languages on kids; I question the practice of trying to get kids into programming. Why not let kids get into programming through curiosity or simply a desire to make things?

Could it not be as simple as the media taking any opportunity to scare people? Fear is a powerful motivator; if a story scares people, they will watch.
