It sure would, I just don't think there's any reason to mess with low level stuff like XMLHttpRequest objects. For javascript itself, this book is always good : http://www.amazon.com/JavaScript-Definitive-Guide-David-Flan... If you haven'

I think one key is to have a solid understand of the fundamentals - I think programming is like martial arts that way. As usual, it doesn't have to be exact, just a useful abstraction. What is a computer program, anyway? A set of instructio

I want to echo the sentiments of others regarding the value of continuing to use those libraries. A lot of real world programming is about knowing when to use libraries and which libraries to use.

Apply to seed funding - This is a risk as a solo applier and approaching from a position of weakness makes you vulnerable.

Sorry if this duplicates, my machine glitched. I just wanted to comment that unless you are independently wealthy, money has to be a big concern - which means either doing something commercial or getting into academics. I would love to have

Progress can only be measured in reference to a destination, which you don't discuss here. Is your goal to revolutionize some part of CS or some part of society or just to make enough to not have to work? As an aside, I followed the opposit

Human beings have a nearly infinite capacity for self deception. I am not a special, unique exception. I must be merciless in my self observation. The only way forward is to look at where I am and make a simple, realistic plan to take me to

Don't underestimate the effort required to write such a product. I use bugzilla as a server with Mylyn in eclipse and this is pretty great. Jira is probably going to be your biggest competition and they are pretty damn good.

To me, this says more about the importance of rigorous test writing methodology than the silliness of IQ tests. You're trying to get a particular signal, the fact that noise exists does not eliminate the need to read that signal. However, I

You can use a daily needs calculator, like the one on nutritiondata.com, and plan out the food that you eat every day. It's not going to be exact, but it's better than eating what you feel like, when you feel like it.

I don't believe that this should ever go to zero. I think the heart of this question is : how do you maximize long term productivity? For me, if I work more than 70-77 hours a week for an extended period, my productivity drops. I can flirt

So, do you think setting a smaller max size on your EBS instances would have avoided this by spreading the traffic, so if you were using 1TB using 10 100GB ones instead and federating queries across them?
