I was going to write about how this article is the biggest crock of shit that I've ever seen, but you capture the point more eloquently. I'm fine with those people that enjoy sport for fun (just as I enjoy WoW) but both WoW and Sports are f

I dunno, I can't comment much outside of my basic skillset, which is java on the back and jquery or as3 in the front... Security is a whole different animal, one that imho has to be added from the beginning.

This is a nicely done article, so many problems map to linear algebra problems and I've been meaning to do this kind of research for a while.

You really only need basic linux shell skills to start. If this is impossible for you, database management and web dev is going to be... challenging...

You want a virtual private server. Like another poster said, linode has a consistently good performance/cost. I'd highly recommend you host your own DNS (I use dyndns).

I think you can find a lot of people on craigslist, linkedin, dice. There's also sd forum if you are in silicon valley. However, it all depends on what you're looking for - senior developer with token stock options or big founder equity? Th

Thank you for this addition - this is a great article, exactly why I visit this site. I'm fairly surprised about the groovy execution time, I wonder if the ruby etc. enthusiasts could generate another set of benchmarks that support their pa

Dave Beckett certainly does good work... I guess I was just curious what would lead to this scenario and what you're wanting to do with the datasets in such a raw format? You can also install allegrograph, which is written in lisp so that s

There's all sorts of levels of skill in the market. You need to demonstrate your skills first - either an open source project or host an SVN with some example code. There is no harm in writing a place looking for a senior dev, they often ha
