I've worked in the bankid system in my country. Most people I know have used it already, which is a nice change compared to the projects in which I haven't met a real user IRL. :D

Congrats! 3k a month is a already a nice side hustle. Are you personally using the app a lot? I'm asking because I've also had the idea of a language learning chatbot, put together a quick POC but found it super boring super fast.

Hi, if it would be sufficient for you to read websites, I'm building https://vokabeln.io , though the concept is a bit different, focusing more on flashcards and spaced-repetition.

I've just recently used a similar Turing test. Needed to contact an owner and all the website had was a floating chat bubble. I've gotten an immediate reply, so suspecting it's an AI, I've asked what's 3772825+82726

Does not sound that bad. I've published like 10 very bad free apps when I was learning android development.

I'm currently working on my own project almost full-time, and what keeps me going is that I really want that product to exist and I see others might like it as well, even though it barely breaks even with ads/revenue ratio.

You can try the code "GUTENTAG" to get a discount, but I'm not sure if it still works. The offers are quite painful to implement.

Hi, you can mark all of the words you already know from home tab -> "the icon with two check marks" on top, next to settings. You can use the app without premium quite nicely. There is actually a bug with word lists and YouTube

And yet again, I'm promoting my app on HN. SRS flashcards, sentences and audio generated with AI, Wiktionary, YouTube, Webbrowser integration: https://vokabeln.io (landing page is old) Only works for German right now, but I

In Vokabeln, the default word list is by the words' frequencies from some corpus and also includes the A1 level from Geothe institute. What I've found funny is that some of the A1 words were not present in the 40 000 word corpus,

I feel slightly bad when people buy the app. The web app is so much better. I made the app with my brother to teach him programming and capitalism. :D

My biggest side projects come from being almost mad that a certain project does not exist. For example, I've seen a lot of gif memes on the internet, in which the text was always very badly jumping around and it was very difficult to m

I'm building a spaced-repetition flashcards language learning app, that generates sentences and explanations for a given word. Unfortunately only for German, but I plan on expanding the languages soon. https://vokabeln.io T

I've taken ACT as an exchange student when I was in the US. I didn't need it, but everyone in my grade was doing it and it was for free, so why not. Sometimes people say, that for ACTs, one needs a specific knowledge of how to tak

I'm freelancing two days a week, which generates most of my income. For the rest of the week, I'm bootstrapping a language learning app.( https://vokabeln.io/ ) I'm lucky enough not having to pay rent and also

I'll add more, once I figure out how to do at least one language well, but will do in a few months.

I've built an MVP similar to this when GPTs came out, but somehow I just did not find it very appealing and I have the same experience with this one. I wonder if it's the delay or just the bleak conversation with an AI. Might get

Yes, I've tried that one as well, but text input is too difficult and slow, whereas multiple choice is too easy. A lot of the time, I would be able to click correct option elimination method.

That one took 3 completely different iterations and bunch of tweaking to get right. For example, when you open in, it scrolls a bit to the first word. When it did not scroll, a friend of mine was looking at it helplessly, trying to scroll o

Ah, unfortunate. I will be adding more languages, but it will take some time. I prefer to have really figured out how to make the app great for German and then expanding, rather then doing everything at once.

Also if you are going to give this a try, two features that are missing and frequently requested: - articles and plurals for nouns - wordlist with A1, A2, B1 words for people doing certificates I'm hoping to implement them next month.

(Shameless plug at the end) During my Erasmus in Germany, I've tried almost all of the top language learning apps (Duolingo, Babel, Seedlang, Anki...) and none of them have really worked me. What I wanted was: * Learning in context --&

No external libraries are used. I just greedy search the image from a grid of starting points to find the best match. The similarity function is a sum of squared differences of the pixel values.

I think it would be quite cheap. The only reason is that I was using Gfycat which shut down. The reason I did not implement my own was that Gfycat was integrated with reddit, so that posting the link would automatically show the gif.
