Cool! I did make a duplicate file finder once. Seems I'll have to update it with this algo then! Thanks for mentioning it! :D

Yes, I'm already aware of that, thank you. Could you please expand upon what the main use cases are for non-cryptographic hashes?

I assume MD5 is in there too now. Just out of curiosity, what are the most common use cases for non-cryptographic hash functions?

As far as I can see, Finland has some of the lowest drug abuse in the world, so it stands to reason that providing homes is more affordable for them. As far as I remember, they used to have a bigger problem with alcohol than their Nordic ne

An important difference is that Helsinki regularly has temperatures down to -7°C or 19.4°F in the winter, on average. While you can live in tents at those temperatures, given well insulated sleeping bags and clothes, it's not exactly

Not a big problem. Can be imported from non-afflicted areas. Perhaps local shortages of certain products, but I doubt anyone will starve. It's pretty bad for the farmer in question, though, who will undoubtedly lose a lot of money.

As a teacher I'd say that depends. If it's relevant to the job, then you should obviously know it, and perhaps even be able to expand upon it. Though after reading the posts here I have a sneaking feeling that things like that usu

Relax. It was just an example of the often menial 1-2-3 things that often aren't really relevant for the job in question, but are still used to fail even accomplished coders in interviews.

Does this mean that the whiteboard coding interviews are flawed, or that guys like us, who has made a ton of more or less great projects are flawed? Why would a company rather have a guy that can solve binary search in five seconds, than on

Only slightly related, but I really like the touch command because it's a very good way to initialize files that is also visible in logs as a file-creation moment. I always run an init log next to my project, so that I can recreate all

Love how the 3D images looks like they're taken straight out of Labyrinth, never mind M. C. Escher. Wonder what it would take to make those render more efficiently.

In Norway they used to put hay on metal wires, tied to high poles, making a fence of hay that dries quickly in the sun. Then the dry hay was stored indoors in hay silos for the winter, usually with formic acid to keep it from rotting. I sus

People didn't really work that hard during the Medieval period. It was pretty chill. Play some chess with your bro. Work your ass off in the field or else no food. Get hounded by people in all-metal coats of arms. Back to playing chess
