Although to be fair, that job 20 does offer equity in the company in lieu of monetary compensation. Maybe not what you're looking for, but still a different beast than working for free.

That's true, of course. But while I'm no history buff the main examples I can think of regarding monopolies of these commodities have always been government-induced (war-time rations, communist food lines, etc.). Am I missing ex

Consider the fact that if you refuse to do business with a private-sector monopoly the worst that'll happen is that you'll get a slightly less-effective alternative or in the worst case go without the good. If you refuse to parti

In the short term you're right. But if the cuts were done responsibly over time the economy would adapt and the capital we currently spend on the military would be reallocated to more productive areas. Claiming that we can never cut

I think Seafile checks all your boxes. I run it on a VPS and use the Windows, Linux and Android clients daily without any issues. I haven't tried the encryption but it allows you to password-protect folders. http://seafile

I'm not sure that everything you said is correct, but the beauty of at-will employment is that it allows most of these problems to be solved by people looking to their own best interests. I don't know many companies that would tr

Then you would have to type in the password each time you wanted to use it anyway. Not much sense in storing anything in that case. :)

I wonder how this compares in total efficiency to traditional truck-based delivery. I could see it going either way -- trucks can presumably move more goods further per unit energy, but you can't take full advantage of that unless you

I don't think this technology will be very useful for illicit purposes until there are enough drones in the sky to get lost in the crowd. They're not particularily inconspicuous when they're buzzing around.

Maybe bitcoins could be moved around in an onion-routing scheme similar to Tor. You might be able to see that a particular wallet ended up with the money but it wouldn't necessarily be possible to see where they came from originally.
