I worked in IT at a CUNY school at the time. Just hilariously poor and unintuitive. Every student was given an Employee ID number. Course registration was basically handled by an e-commerce addon.

Go check how many second hand 1080 TIs are on the market vs all GP102 Quadros and Teslas. I think the myopia is in the other direction. Counting SKUs is not evidence of unit sales.

.NET Framework isn't EOL and is probably going to be supported forever pretty much. There are still regular updates to .NET Framework distributed through Windows Update.
