Yes for sure is not surprising but this kind of competition should not be hosted in Kaggle. The value of Kaggle is to share and find a better solution of the world (with prize) by gathering people from anywhere in the world. Not only the na

Maybe you can go check TI hercules series. I couldn't find a multicore one but I found it cheapest possible Cortex R board. http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/microcontrollers-16-bit-32-bit/c20...

Wow, it's a great piece of work. I was always wondering how to implement such big golang runtime on bare-metal, but someone finally did it. I glad to have a paper as well. So how big is the compiled binary of golang runtime? I hope it

Google Fuchsia is based on Google Magenta micromernel. But they are slightly different story. Google is trying to make a whole new OS for embedded system. I mean it is not aiming POSIX-compability.

0 out of 10? Omg I've never seen this score before! Are there any devices got zero score in ifixit?

My professor suggested to use either Amaya or Adobe Fireworks in a web programming class. I tried to use Amaya at first because it's free and open source but I ended up using Fireworks...It's a bit shame that this kind of project

This news sounds quite opposite to me. Although adding a new language is always a good news but Kotlin won't solve any problems with Oracle, since it is just another JVM language. This news sounds like Google is going for an easier way

It is not competitive at all yet. In the world of embedded system, the processing power is not all about embedded system. The CPU takes less than 10% of the sillicon of the chip. Look at what what it got - A single SPI, some PWMs, even so I

I was always wondering why Softbank bought ARM. ARM is of course market leading processor design company but it is almost solely fabless and intellectual property company. I don't see how ARM would benefit Softbank.

Thanks for the link. But nVida SoC is too obvious and I am not interested in it. I am waiting for a much more professional teardown review, inclding information of every parts, like this: https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/

It's a bit shame that there is no chip part information. I am particularly wondering which microcontroller they use for the remote controllers. I will wait for iFixit's teardown review.

You can design an ASIC with HDL before it is produced but ASIC is not programmable. An ASIC is produced as it is. So you CAN'T WRITE an ASIC.

No it is not entirely different. Don't forget that FPGA is originally made for prototyping an ASIC, and HDL came out to configure digital circuit before FPGA is invented. Of course an ASIC cannot be made with only HDL, and not sure if

1kb RAM and 25k of flash is impressively low for Javascript engines for embedded system. I know it is still heavy for MCUs. Other JS engine implementations like Ducktape [1] and Jerryscript [2] takes more than 10kb of RAM and 150 of FLASH.

I am with you. This looks particularly bad for electronic engineering. Why they would define a schematic without any drawing.

What about the case of switchable graphics? When a laptop has intel internal graphic and a nVidia chip, is it counted as Intel ,nvidia, or both?

Because people these days want to use open source codes freely, without bothering with License. And people who open projects wants their project more widely used. GPL is too restrictive for new projects.

No. The biggest hit is not the JIT. Octave has less support for SIMD operations whereas Matlab uses Intel's propriority Math Kernel Library. You will realize that Octave gets significantly slower in matrix and vectorized operations, wh

Well Matlab is still a very popular among Engineers who are usualy more conservative than CS guys. And they are not convinced to switch to the other tools cuz Matlab is still good enough so it is not worth risking to loose their legacy code
