That bug is intractable with the current NPAPI and plugin vendor landscape. Slowly plugins are being replaced by web accessible technology. That is the way forward. There are some things a user can do to avoid the issue as much as possible.

Chrome had full time engineers fairly quickly. Externally I saw Google pull back resources that were working full time on Firefox and hired several engineers that were Mozilla experts Ben G., Doron, WTC.

I saw a demo from http://www.codenomicon.com fuzzing bluetooth. They were able to crash the bluetooth stack on an HTC Android 2.3 phone that I provided, resulted in a crash on start up until the battery was pulled.

The async pan zoom controller (APZ/APZC) is only used on Firefox OS and the former Firefox for Metro. The graphics team wrote something similar for Firefox for Android (JPZC). At some point the plan is to use the APZ in other products.

CanIuse is incorrect. Firefox on Android has supported it for years. Chrome added support recently. That being said it is easy to OOM mobile browsers with textures.
