Thanks for the link! Would you mind summarizing a few relevant points from the hour and a half long video? ;)

I interviewed at Google twice in Mountain View after getting through the whole phone interview and coding process each time, but failed in person. I was way too nervous and performed poorly, but did well enough that they wanted me to come b

The most iconic feature of "material design" to me is the "create" button in the lower right-hand corner. Except if you're in landscape in, say, Gmail, it's in the center bottom since it's a part of the me

The font is so huge on mobile. I get about three words to a line, which makes the site very hard to read.

(2012) I really wish people would get in the habit of including the date in their submitted titles for non-current links. Older links are fine if they're still of interest, but since this is Hacker News after all, things that aren&#x

Very impressive that PyPy's JIT with Pycket out-performed Racket's language-specific JIT, and that it supports tail calls and continuations, both of which are impractical to implement on say, the JVM (see Clojure).

It's a small thing, but I'm so glad they renamed it to "Nim". Its prior name carries such a negative connotation, while just shortening that gave a name that's cute and simple.

The article mentions stackless Python. My understanding is Guido didn't want to merge it because it would break backwards compatibility with extensions. That was a long time ago when Python's userbase was much smaller. I wonder

Just associate .txt files with Sublime Text and then you can type 'open -t {file}' or 'open -t {directory}' to open in Sublime Text. I'll often do 'open -t .' to open the current directory, then CMD+P to o

I like the idea. I like that you even round-trip comments. I suppose that doesn't add too much complexity to the implementation? Have you ever been bitten by the dwimmy typing of numeric and true/false/null data?

Great to see the IPython notebook being used by languages other than Python! I've been wanting to read The Haskell School of Music[1]. I'm hopeful this would be a useful environment for working through it. [1] http://ha

That is pretty impressive if it can really get 8 months on a battery while maintaining a bluetooth connection! Of course, this is quite a different category of product as it doesn't have a screen and just has normal watch hands. Still,

You say bland, I say functional. Since my Casio data bank watch in the 90s I didn't wear a watch until I got my Pebble. To me a watch is a tool, not a fashion accessory. I understand not everyone looks at it that way, but really I don&

Something I've wondered for a while: why was the decision made to write yet another dynamic language VM+JIT (MoarVM) instead of taking advantage of all the work the PyPy folks have done and using PyPy for Perl 6? Was PyPy even evaluate

Yes. It's better than the alternative of having a bunch of URLs pasted inline making the rest harder to read. I mean I've read books where the majority of some pages consisted of footnotes, so I don't get the hostility.
