There's always oversight, that's just something you wrongly assumed.

I accept that for every prompt of building I'm going to have 1-5 prompts of refinement. Once the LLM tells me "Okay, it's done, everything works" I always as it to do a thorough review, I tell it to split up the work amo

Yeah, v1 is sloppy, then I tell the LLM to clean it up. Every 1 prompt of building tends to require 1-5 prompts of clean up. Simple, fast, clean good code. The chasm between "Software Developer" and "Software Engineer" i

This is such a low value article lol I'm not even sure what it's trying to say. It's just someone patting themselves on the back.

I've been in software for about 15 years now, so long before LLMs. But now, I won't write code without them. When I go out to eat, I'd love to know what people's favorite dishes are so that I know what to try. This plugi

My anecdotal experience isn't a benchmark. Just because I feel like something is better or different doesn't mean it actually is.

I just don't believe non-deterministic tools can actually be benchmarked. It's all hoopla to me. I flip between models all the time. Makes little difference. Sometimes one model is faster or better than another but there's no

I've always interchangeably used the models. I don't look at benchmarks. It's a non-deterministic tool. A lot of the shit going on with LLMs just doesn't make sense to me. All the tooling around like MCPs, they're a

I'm surprised at how many businesses are using subscriptions instead of paying per token.

So you think your bespoke solution is less complex? Custom scalers? Running prometheus, grafana, etc?

Lambda IS super simple. These people are professional amateurs. They don't know what they don't know so they post stupid posts like this and all the other know-nothings upvote it and comment likewise. Seriously, there's nowhe

Yup! I've been holding Hacker News in too high of esteem for too long I think. Most people on here are amateurs at best. The complaints about AWS/Cloud and LLMs are getting too loud. Did the industry pull in too many inexperienced

I honestly can't believe most of the people posting aren't engineers or they work at small companies or something. They show their lack of experience when talking about how cheap Hetzner and DO are.

Alright, so where are the good engineers these days? Reddit died quite a while ago and I was holding on to Hacker News, but with all the anti-LLM posts and the anti-cloud fud I see on here it's obviously not here either any more. What

At my job and for personal projects I pay per token with claude and I've had no problems at all with it. No slowdowns, no "throttling", nothing. I'm honestly surprised how many people have subscriptions and are expecting

Have you been to Orcas Island or the San Juan islands in Washington? I think Acadia is a great National Park, especially for the East coast. But I moved to Seattle a few years back and only more recently got out to Orgas Island. It's i

Acadia is a beautiful park and it definitely reaches National Park level for the East coast. I don't really agree with your assessment there, especially since it doesn't sound like you saw much of Acadia if you think it's onl

Yeah, I've gotta use skills more. I didn't quite get it until this last week when I used a skill that I made. I didn't know the skill got pulled into context ONLY for the single command being ran with the skill, I thought the

I avoid most MCPs. They tend to take more context than getting the LLM to script and ingest ouputs. Trying to use JIRA MCP was a mess, way better to have the LLM hit the API, figure out our custom schemas, then write a couple scripts to do

Why would you use Grok at all? The one LLM that they're purposely trying to get specific output from (trying to make it "conservative"). I wouldn't want to use a project that I outright know is tainted by the owners tryi

Do you think this is a gotcha? You just prompt the llm to change the plan.

Yes to all of these. Here's the rub, I can spin up multiple agents in separate shells. One is prompted to build out <feature>, following the pattern the author/OP described. Another is prompted to review the plan/change

There's comments like this because devs/"engineers" in tech are elitists that think they're special. They can't accept that a machine can do a part of their job that they thought made them special.

You just have another agent/session/context refactor as you go. I built a skribbl.io clone to use at work. We like to play eod on Friday as a happy hour and when we would play skribbl.io we would try to get screencaps of the stupi

Yeah, definitely a stupid take from OP. LLMs are very strong at using the frameworks, it makes it easier to hire people to work on your codebase, it makes it easier for future uses of LLMs since they'll have a lot of framework details

You haven't worked somewhere where you're working on multiple different microservices each written by different teams in different languages?
