They also don't drive several thousand or tens of thousand kilometers in one go once or more a year either in addition to the normal driving, so I'd say that argument is not helpful here.

I wonder what the difference between 'switch electric car to car free' and 'live carfree' is? The effect over time or not using rentals/other people's cars maybe?

Don't underestimate the wild pigs though! Actually a great part of European biodiversity depends on the cultivation of the land. The natural state would be forests and swamps. Grazing leads to open lands with a multitude of grasses, ot

The worst culprit for many people I know is flying. You can eat a lot of meat for the emissions of just one long-haul flight. (Which is sad because flying is great.)

I can recommend going in September. They are already at winter prices (much lower) but you still have a good chance at ok weather, plus the nights are long enough to see aurora.

From what I've seen, working with a good software consultancy for a while is not bad since they will give you a lot of initial training in stuff like software project management and the latest continuous integration/unit testing&#

I feel the consequences are a bit different. If you have ethical reasons, then no meat is ok. If you have ecological reason, a little bit (especially gras-fed or similar) seems ok (the only question is how much).

At this point I'd rather take the risks and costs of nuclear instead of the sure problems of coal and gas. Until it is all replaced with renewable (hopefully very soon) we should definitely keep everything possible running.

Hm, so selling to a robot without someone behind to represent would be extralegal I guess, and if any problems occur during the trade you'd be on your own? The closest thing would probably trades with wild animals. Are there any laws o

I think that depends on what you take as a baseline for a non-expert. For the violinist you seem to take somebody who does not know how to play the violin at all. For the cloud architect however, what do you use? A person who has never touc

If it's cold that's not so good because there will be so much steam. (Another thing, you have to undress, sit in there and get dry and dressed again in the cold.. brr which is why I decided against it when faced with the decisio

It's not like the word 'fire hydrant' exists in those countries either, so some kind of knowledge/learning/look-up is involved anyway, no?

No, the changes in land use had significant and detectable impacts far before that. The albedo change between forest and fields alone is quite large.

It still makes a difference when you move the CO2 to the stratosphere, which is what you essentially do here. I'm not sure we've run the models on this (without the rest of the changes), so I don't know at what point it becom

It's actually a decent source of money as a student. Go lie in the fMRT for an hour or two (I just sleep if there's nothing to do) and they will wire you ~10€/hour or more.

Nobody claims accuracy on the timescale of such a high resolution. Aditionally, we don't know about future emissions and land-use changes, and feedback effects, so we cannot predict the exact future. Please check the wikipedia page for

A lot of care was taken in the wording of the last IPCC report to communicate what findings have which level of confidence. The range is from 'virtually certain' to unsure, and yes, some parts are indeed not settled yet, but the m
