How does language play into this? Is it a skill you have or is it part of the self too? Do you use language while you deliberate on these things?

I have seen it, several times actually. It does move like that, and it can throw a very clear shadow (for brightness). You were unlucky, it seems. Several times the groups I was meeting up with were unlucky as well, and freaked out about th

Would shading all (/the majority) of the bike lanes be prohibitively expensive or doable? Encountering a problem should not make us come to a full stop and give up. edit: Or bicycles with roofs, similar to the car solution?

Reducing and eventually eliminating net emissions is not optional. How we get there can be discussed - if you have any better ideas please put them forward!

You'd wish, have you seen the code of scientific models? Coding is one of the things you just pick up on the way, while physics etc is taught formally.

Here is one model that you can download and run: https://www.mi.uni-hamburg.de/en/arbeitsgruppen/theoretische... It has a GUI mode where you can check and uncheck various things. (Needs a FORTRAN compiler though,

It's not that hard (after a low number of tries). You can try yourself, write something with milk and hold it over a candle after drying.

If we do that we can get CO2 to 5000 ppm (currently at 410 ppm, cognitive impacts are observed from 1000 ppm (happens regularly in closed rooms full of people)). With that level we can melt down all of Antarctica. Yay.

Well I suppose they could split their country, that would lower the emissions of the individual parts and might bring them down to the US level easily. (Not that they'd be interested in that, but still.)

What is actually quite fast is the change from ice age to interglacial: hundreds to thousands of years in temperatures from Antarctica. It is not quite clear yet how that happens. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Ice_

I'd say definitely better. You can probably throw them into the garbage power plants, and if not it's still a much more manageable problem. More tangible too, which is one of the big tragedies of carbon emissions.

I'd say depending on where you park the bike can be substantially faster (it's actually door-to-door, a car is very rarely).
