I researched this like a decade ago and my conclusion at the time was that Kanban and Scrum kind of work the opposite way. Kanban is a "pull" approach where you have some kind of big goal you need (e.g. a car at toyota) and then a

Maybe I'm just getting old and it's all nostalgia but I had exactly the same experiences during the 80s and 90s. I also thought web forums where a big step backwards when compared to usenet groups. In pre-internet times I loved re

I can speak German, English and Dutch (which are very close Germanic languages) and also understand a bit of French and Italian. I guess I could learn their basics relatively quickly if I tried hard enough. However, I actually need to learn

Quite a long time ago I worked at a company developing games for mobile phones in J2ME. The J2ME runtime had a lot of (different) quirks issues on different phones and the phones where also quite different. We used the C preprocessor a lot

What I don't understand is why the focus for stationary batteries is still on lithium. I don't really care about energy density (weight / volume) because I don't have to carry it around. Aren't there cheaper and saf

Very well said. I miss the early days of the internet. In addition: Event though the net was not very safe at the time (no/poor encryption, no much monitoring by officials etc.) it kind of felt differently. Many users where at least aw

str(x) converts the argument to a string. Since the argument is an integer, there won't be any leading zeroes. More problematic are negative values though.

Thanks for the clarification. Luckily BNC connectors are rare nowadays. It happened at a friends house. I lost contact but I'm pretty sure he's still alive but maybe their house is still dangerous.

Happy memories. I started with just 1:1 multiplayer games using the serial port (GTA, Dogfight, Doom). GTA (or our serial port config) had horrible problems with de-synchronization. The game just went on but players where in completely diff

I had the same issue and my solution was: I modified the code of the game to add cheats (make my character super durable), compiled it myself and loaded the apk onto my phone. Then I finally finished the game and my addiction ended.

I believe Space Station 14 is implemented using an ECS engine. It's open source but quite impressive regarding scale and features. It's also a multiplayer game which brings some extra questions to the usual ECS ambiguities.
