Agree with the previous answer - "it depends", so I can tell only about some of the companies I know. My company is very flexible in this regard - every employee works when he/she is comfortable. We agree on calls in advance.

I quess a lot of existing tools allow to do the same or something similar. For example, Riter ( https://riter.co ). It requires minimal efforts to create any task - you just need to specify its title, other parameters are optional
