Yea this is definitely a setup issue. Everything looks soft in his DSLR scans, probably an issue with the depth of field. I used to DSLR-scan 6x8 medium format and while it was a major PITA the results were phenomenal [1,2]. With stitching

Have you seen the domains Microsoft uses? Half the time I am not sure if they are genuine or not, it's actually crazy. Sometimes they use .com, other times .ms. Sometimes Microsoft is in the top-level other times it's in the secon

Same thing for bicycles btw. Strobing rear lights are allowed as long as they are on your person (i.e. clothing/helmet or backpack), only on the bike itself they are not permitted.

I agree with the underlying logic here. However, when street maintenance trucks are driving around normally with their extremely bright orange strobes enabled (mind you, not parked in the street doing repairs, I'd totally understand th

Why focus on just student/professor-written blogs? In that field especially a ton of extremely knowledgeable and experienced people don't have degrees. Regardless, here's a (no longer existant, unfortunately) blog by a then-m

Oh wow! Did not expect you here, but it makes sense. You were the reason I started building my own ukuleles at the age of 14 or so. They became quite amazing after the third one ;-) Thanks a ton for your work and have an amazing day, Matthi

It's not often you see a take this bad on HN. Wow! You are aware Facebook tracks everyone, not just people with Facebook accounts, right? They have a history of being anti-consumer in every sense of the word. So while I can understand

While I see your point and how OPs comment could be interpreted that way I don't think that is how he meant it. I read it more along the lines of your sibling comment, I.E. "I can't believe I am getting paid a ton for little

Not a stall but it might've been loss of control due to aerodynamic forces and effects. There's two that come to mind when talking about leaving a loop too fast like what seems to be the case here. There's control lockup, whe

Maybe you should read about that again, because you obviously don't know what you're talking about ;-) The A-12/SR-71 was leaking fuel while it was sitting on the apron/ramp, because due to the insane heating that occurs

We are already doing that. A orbital mechanics maneuver used in deep space spaceflight called a gravity assist or slinghshot trades a cosmic object's kinetic energy to change a spacecraft's flight path. Since that takes a large am

I just discovered Team Scheisse a week ago (they are from city!) and now I come across them on HN, what a coincidence (obviously this might be the Baader-Meinhof-Phenomenon at play but since they are a comparatively small band I would say t

Modern day tech often reaches spaceflight circles decades after it becomes ubiquitous in normal use. For spaceflight purposes it is extremely vital that any and all components and tech is matured amd that takes a long time. Add in a ton of

Just as much as by the equivalence of software developer and software engineer. Both are a misuse of the term "engineer". Maybe one more than the other, but still.

You're right, but it's not Kagi Search that is doing the robbing: it's all the ad-tech aggressors of the last decade plus.

Are you implying techies are engineers? They are not. Just like accounting isn't engineering. Engineering is engineering.

I don't have (n)vi(m) open right now but I think this only applies to prepending spaces. For prepending tabs, 0 will take you to the first non-tab character as well.

On mobile it barely loads the tweet for me, doesnt load any of the responses and if I go to the author's profile I get blocked by a login-wall. So no, "x" is not perfectly easy to use, it's utter garbage.

I have found this software to be very unintuitive with bad UI/UX, unfortunately. The utility of the software is good amd it fills a vital gap for concurrent engineering, but UI/UX needs to be improved badly.
