That I know of: Danske Bank, ICA Banken and Nordea give you some “calculator”-style device to generate codes and login. Danske calls it “kodbox”, Nordea “ID-dosa”. I got mine at account opening, and you need it to issue BankID for the first

It depends on background noise, not sure how objectively it can be measured. My apartment is super quiet, you hardly hear anything from the outside, so I can hear a HDD in the living room during the silent parts of movies. In some relative’

Ctrl-F -> UEFI -> no matches. Title seems accurate. I love SBCs and ARM, but the Achille’s heel of the ecosystem is the lack of UEFI, making every board unique and dependent of a kernel/bootloader provided by the manufacturer (wh

Let the market decide, I.e.: people comment and call out companies that do that. If the company cares, they can defend themselves, the same way we’re trying to defend the HN community. I’ve pointed this out before [1], we need a way to call

This directive only apply if you are trading (aka making money) with the app. Why does Google force-collect all this information when you can opt to not be a trader (no in-app purchases, no ads, etc)?

It’s important to note that even if you app is not monetized and you don’t have any intention to, Google still requires all this information anyway (including uploading an ID picture and proof of address). Nothing really stops Google from

I haven’t used AWS in the last 5 years. Is IPv6 still somewhat of an issue? I remember some services not supporting it at all and making it impossible to manage as a IPv6-only network.

> I don't know why anyone (especially technical) would put up with that. Answer from someone that has to put up with that: other gyms are significantly harder to get to (distance) and it’s already hard enough to get motivated to go.

The worst part is that you can’t even browse your photos on Google without giving full local library permissions. If you want to upload nothing and just see the old stuff, gotta give them content to train their models.

What does “OS” in the name stands for? My first thought was “Operating System”, but that doesn’t make sense when what they are providing is a server via a docker container. No one says they installed the Elastic OS… Ubiquiti themselves call

I can't comment on LLMs, but I vaguely remember speculations of it being a mixture of AI training and trying to keep resource utilization at bay. Even generic bots can cause a lot load if you don't have much caching in front of it

That’s called product-market fit (PMF), and once any product reaches that stage (in other words: it’s proven that people will spend money in such solution), it’s a race to the bottom in terms of costs/building it cheap. Unless your mar

For a while now, GitHub doesn’t allow you to use the code search anonymously, but everything else is still there. Rate limits are quite damn low though.

Thankfully I got domain-sober before the 2012 gTLD round, otherwise I’d have gone bankrupt from renewal fees. A tip to everyone: subdomains are free, and you can set up a 301 redirect once the project gets some traction. As others have ment

At this day and age, any cheap TLD will be used for spam. I used to think people shouldn’t do it, but now the only option is to blanket-ban some TLDs. I operate my own postfix. In the last 6 months, I see at least 250 daily attempts from do
