I find it easier to read. It's easier to parse too so it doesn't rely on standardization as much. There was some effort towards standardization but nothing became of it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-express

I just have to tag on this post and mention the replacement that I stuck with: http://goread.io It's open-source with a free hosted service. It works really well for me. I have been very impressed with the progress since in

What about S-Expressions? My electronics CAD program recently switched to using it for footprint and layout files and I am very happy about it. It looks like this in text: https://github.com/KiCad/Footprint_Symbols.pret

Digikey's and Farnell's parametric search are the best from a user's perspective. All the sites are pretty terrible from a designer's perspective. I concluded this from working out how to generate HTTP requests for them

Yes, I should have said "integral to university budgets" rather than "central". The thing is, the perceived value of education is largely based around prestige. Unless the cost of studying in the UK suddenly sky-rockets

Nice little bit of criticism of the Hackney council and I like the summary of the startup scene in general: A common pattern in startups is to go to work for one, watch it implode and team up with a colleague or two to move on to

In the UK Farnell/Element14 are the best choice for components. My items always arrive next-day when ordered before 5pm and delivery is free (you have to spend at least £20 to pay by card). The site is a lot more usable than RS-Online

Can you really see that happening though? The negative associations attached to insect eating are too great. I think it would take more than marketing to change such social norms.

Illiad V2 looks nice. My dream is just having an e-paper monitor next to my regular monitor to which I can just pull text over to read. I wish I could just get my hands on an e-paper screen of a decent size to hack.
