You've the order wrong. This is merely the world reciprocating.

a)Allowing US Internet companies to compete fairly instead of using the firewall as an excuse to promote state controlled tech monopolies. b) Having a fair and transparent judiciary to handle cases of intellectual property violations.

I agree with you on the overall perspective. But I do think exceptions can and do exist. This not just a case of “they did A, so we will respond with B”. It's a case of “they did A, B, C, etc. so we are responding with X after 10+ year

Certainly: CCP has been able to fool the world for long enough. US policy of hoping that China would open up in the long run has proven to be extremely naive.

It was tolerated in the hope that over time China would open up. But that did not happen. When facts change, time to change your strategy.

US is merely reciprocating the policies of CCP: let them allow US companies to compete fairly in China as well.

Because many US companies have been at the receiving end of unfair trade practices, copyright theft and blatant IP violations from the mainland. It's good that we are finally doing something about that.

If you used a Trie for the inverted index, you can do fuzzy searches on tokens. This can help handle typo errors. This is the approach I've taken with Typesense: https://github.com/typesense/typesense

This was suggested when TikTok was banned in India. However the reality is that people just moved onto other clones.

If that is the case, then so many people should be using Twitter and Google in China, where they are banned. Fact is 99% of people will not bother using a VPN to access TikTok -- anyway clones will appear pretty soon and they will grab the

DigitalOcean started this trend but this has now become a very crowded space with other hosting providers like Linode etc. using the same strategy.

Typesense supports a lot of features needed for e-commerce including complex ones like filtering on facet values.

I've been working on an open source alternative. It's dead simple to setup and run (including raft based clustering). It also integrates seamlessly with Instantsearch.js library. Would love to hear your feedback on Typesense: htt

I've been working on a fast typo tolerant search engine ( https://github.com/typesense/typesense ) for 4 years. It initially started off with a question of "Why is ES so difficult to grok and manage?". The

Can't believe Cloudwatch wasn't mentioned here. Could be such a useful product that is so messed up that there is probably multiple billion dollar companies in this space.

PR speak aside, it looks like they are trying to get people to switch to certain regions, perhaps which are not popular with lot of idle machines? The popular locations like Oregon and Virginia don't have much discounts to offer.

To reduce deployment complexity. One or the primary goals of Typesense is simplicity. While writing a raft implementation myself would have been tricky, integrating with a consensus library made sense.

Raft has spawned a huge ecosystem of consensus libraries across various languages. This has 'democratized' the consensus algorithm and has made it easier to build distributed systems. Is it perfect? No, as another comment here poi
