Chinese manufacturers claim that marking means "Chinese Export". They have some ridiculous story about how the curvature of the "C" is different when it means "Council of Europe". I know, it's bogus, but

Github culture is the infection vector. That's why OpenBSD is unaffected. Hygiene, folks. Also could be the fact that the entire reason OpenBSD exists is that De Raadt got cancelled out of NetBSD: http://mail-index.netbsd.o

There is one: @reckenrode. He's really good. But yeah only one person who knows nixpkgs inside-out runs Darwin. Low bus factor.

Cabal has had nix-style local builds since 2016: That's a bug not a feature. Every language these days is trying to force you to use its own badly-implemented imitation of Nix. Just look at what cargo does with the target/ dire

I'm unclear where the extra energy comes from. When the atom ejects an electron, the hole left behind gets filled by an electron from a neighboring atom. Then the same thing happens to the neighbor -- and so on. This is electrical

I was going to post the same thing. This has to be the most beautifully typeset webpage I've seen in quite a while. Not just the font but the layout too. It's almost like this page is part of the web from some parallel universe,

The last sentence of the paper seems to imply that this result will give people a reason to want to develop those: The development of dedicated VUV lasers with narrow linewidth will make it possible to access a new regime of resolution and

For 10gbit+: Mellanox SN2xxx. Probably the SN3xxx, SN4xxx, and SN5xxx too but I can't afford those. For 1gbit: Ubiquiti Edgerouter ER-4 and ER-6; both have SFP cages for fiber optic transcievers https://github.com/NixO

Friends don't let friends use multi-mode fiber. Single-mode fiber is future-proof. Utilities bury that stuff and depreciate it over a 30-year lifetime. There has been like one spec change since the 1970s. Single-mode fiber. Always s

Yes. The switchdev "sw1p[0-9]+" ports are special; the any data the software kernel injects to them is discarded and they never emit packets to the kernel. They exist only to allow you to use `ip bridge` and `ip route` on them.

Having gone through this struggle myself, here's the cheat sheet. You want a device that uses the Linux switchdev driver and is supported by dentOS whether or not you actually choose to run dentOS on it (I run NixOS on my switch):
