I would argue that: a) Dr. Dre is a performer. Rap, distasteful as you may find it, is performance art. It's the same as gangster movies. Would you object to Apple working with Scorcese? It's a character, albeit slightly autobiogr

Is it that surprising? Rap's hustling make it by any means mentality isn't so far from that of startup founders / ambitious people in general.

Not an economist but my instinct is that if a housing stipend became widespread practice for startups in SF it would aid in inflating the market by making prices artificially low. Pretty good perk for now though, I'd take it.
