If I recall correctly, they're not open-sourcing because YouTube Vanced is a collection of patches on reverse-engineered YouTube source code, which would be illegal to publish

Partly true, but this doesn't apply to many rewritten tools, like cat or ls where memory safety bugs are tolerable

Yep Whenever a new tool appears whose existence is justified by being "written in Rust" I cringe a little. I'm a happy Rust user, but I wish people would use the language to make cool stuff, not just spread the language for t

In UTF-8, only some bits are used for the actual character codes. The rest are control bits for the decoder to know where a character starts and ends. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTF-8#Encoding

Good golly, that 0.35% figure really puts the patch set into perspective A library I'm working on is 7000 LOC which seems pretty sizable, but 0.35% of that is 25 LOC. The Linux patch set is actually tiny

Some of those are good points. But the author mentioned multiple times how Rust should have a GC, which makes me think they're missing the point of the language: a systems language as fast as C++ and with no runtime

There's a _ton_ of those pseudo loading bars I wish so hard people would make real loading bars. Ones that _actually_ give you an indication of progress, that don't stall forever on 5% and then jump to 100% instantaneously, or res

The deal breaker with `..Default::default()` is that it only works for structs without any required fields. Forgetting a required field just means you get the dummy value from Default, that is, if you even manage to implement Default for th

You could put it in any of the variants I think, or make a wrapper struct (like the other comment suggested). As long as the PhantomData comes up somewhere, it should be fine
