This. And all the other same replies below. My manager just "upgraded" his old Mac by installing an SSD and gave it to his wife to use. Said it prolonged the life for another few years. I just upgraded RAM and HDD -> SSD on a friends co

AFAIK, Nokia and Microsoft don't make laptops. Portable music players are comparatively cheap and disposable in comparison to a £3000 laptop.

I don't know... Samsung S3 had 9 million pre-orders. I know a lot of people upgrading due to 1) the marketing hype surrounding the new tech 2) in the UK at least your carrier will generally give you an upgrade ever 18-24 months (cost depend

Because it's a stupid view of the world. What if you bought a BMW and they said "sorry, if you want to replace those tyres or wiper blades then you need to bring it in to BMW, even though we don't actually make any of thee parts ourselves

I'm waiting for someone in the UK to invoke the 6 year warranty rule, since obviously if the battery is glued in and the RAM soldered in it's gonna last forever right! http://blogs.thisismoney.co.uk/2010/03/tv-warranty.html

Except may be I can't afford the heavy Apple price tag right now and I only want a 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM to get me started while I save up for a few more months for the other upgrades... not everyone can afford to go all out and go full spe

Exactly. The "public surveillance cameras" in the UK mentioned in the article (although the number is probably a slight exaggeration) have now been turned against us further. So instead of being used to protect the public, they are now bein

But what if that customer HAD to scream loud in order to to get things put right? If the customer rep truly believed that was the policy (whether is was or not) and you keep batting emails back and forth to them... they will not budge. So y

It's not about entitlement, but if you can't support something then either don't provide it or have some other means of supporting the product. There's a million and one forums out there where the forums are self moderated through super use

It doesn't, but you are verifying that a) a bug actually doesn't exist b) showing the "customer" you have actually done something/investigated and not just replied with a standard email template.

Not sure I agree with "the site is free so don't expect any service" attitude. The site may be free but if you can't support it then don't provide it. Granted this site doesn't host ads like Gmail, but I expect a level of service from Googl

I agree with your thoughts on reciprocal agreements, although UK -> US is not the same as the other way around, it is MUCH MUCH easier for a US citizen with skills to move here than a UK citizen to go to US. I looked into this a few yea

Immigrants might create social pressure until they're fully integrated, some don't know the language, and some are more likely to commit crimes or cost the state money upon deportation procedures. Surely that's the whole point of the immi
