This reminds me of Needlebase from ITA before they got swallowed by Google. Needlbase had a bit less magic and a bit more data modelling, judging by that little demo. Video tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58Gzlq4zSDk

You could use cluster compute instances which use hardware virtualisation, and I think gives you the whole machine. With spot pricing, you could run them for about 21¢ an hour.

One idea that jumps to mind is putting the running frameworks in an LXC container (or similar) and monitoring the memory usage of that. Not sure how accurate that is, but it's one avenue. It also still might not be fair because some runtime

I had no idea about this. Thanks! Any thoughts on what to put in there? I just added ‘if found please email ...’ but it could perhaps be improved.

More than this, Ubuntu are trying to remove it from their distribution in favour of overlayfs [0]. As mentioned there, the reason is that aufs is not and will not be part of the mainline kernel. Precise 12.04 was going to be without AUFS,

You can do this if you use Chrome on your phone, and are signed in with sync enabled. The tabs on your phone are accessible from the 'New Tab' page on you desktop and vice versa. On desktop Chrome, there's a little 'Other Devices' drop do

I used ledger for a few months last year, tracking transactions in five or six currencies. I haven't used another system so I can't compare, but ledger seemed to handle things very well. For foreign credit card transactions, you can do thi

Will the beefier machine mean the lifetime of the fnids can be increased? (Funny surprise: the one for this comment box expired before I submitted this comment.)

I experimented with this, and have flown within Canada with a foreign (non-US, non-European) driving license. There was no verification other than checking the name matched the boarding pass, if I remember correctly.

The ICFP contest from 2004 [0] was a bit like what you're talking about. Rather than a bot, though, the submission was a description for a state machine that each ant would follow. [0] https://alliance.seas.upenn.edu/~plclub/cgi-bin/conte

A possible contribution to the decrease that was not mentioned is that they may be linked to less often because of the pay wall. For general news, a blogger might instead link to some other, more reliably visitable site. When the Montreal

I've been there a few times, most recently in the summer of 2006 or 2007. I do not like it. If you do not like gaudy things and rampant superficiality, you probably would not like it either. I intended to visit once Burj Dubai reached fu

There can be something akin to meditation in walking, or "taking a walk". An approach I've taken in the past is attempt to hear all the sounds. Not to listen to, just hear. Wherever you are, there are likely enough sounds for this. If y

Presumptuous linkbait title. Bleh. Can't comment on most, but I had heard of half. For an introduction to computability theory, I much preferred Kozen (Automata and Computability) to Sipser. I thought it was a good deal cleaner in its pre
