I think the Rebel Whopper branding is really spot on. It‘s like the opposite of the McLean problem described in another comment: it‘s not the reasonable choice.

There are react libraries that offer a basic level of offline support (urql, apollo). You can maybe query data you already have cached, perform mutations and optimistically update the cache offline while the update is hopefully queued (mayb

FYI you can go into the subscription settings on the app store right after starting the trial and cancel it. It will still run for the same duration and it‘s easy to resubscribe again when the trial runs out.

If anyone can distinguish bot visitors from real visitors server side it should be Cloudflare. Don‘t they sell that capability as a service?

Keynote is also a well designed product not made by google. It is available on the web and supports real time collaboration. But it seems like no one cares about web/collaboration in iWork apps and apple isn‘t really pushing it as a gs

The not needing to stay inside is true of almost all draggable controls on iOS btw. And you can combine that with multitouch. In a music application you might have 4 or 5 parameters under your fingers, nowhere near the original controls whi

In terms of unreliable charging, maybe you have already done it but: clean the lightning port. They did it at the apple store for an unrelated repair and all my issues went away. A year later i even went back and had them do only that becau

I agree with the suggestion when to use a server, but I think making it out to be an obvious physical law is a bit too far. Serveless runtimes can be massively multi-tenant, and in cases like Cloudflare have very little overhead per tenant,

It is not going to be as good out of the box as a native iOS app, but it is is workable with a little bit of effort. Unlike Flutter, react native does not have a fundamental architecture that makes accessibility tricky.

I personally don't think extracting component classes is a useful tailwind feature. IMHO it is really quite similar to using HTML attributes for styling or inline styles. Maybe those wheren't actually such terrible ideas. They are

I think collecting analytics from the server logs is going to get more popular again, though a problem for SPAs? We could call it Edge Analytics this time around and run it on cloudflare. For publishing systems, couldn't wordpress repo

Why does infinite scroll have to suck on the web, yet you never see pagination in mobile and desktop software? It makes me think that it's not inherently bad, it's the technology that's lacking. If the file explorer would spl

Modern SPA frameworks (-> next.js) offer a similar 1 file code style and require no (manually written) api routes. The end result looks very similar to the server side frameworks of old, so it's a bit of a circular evolution. I thin

How are you "simply rendering the correct server side html"? Presumably with some kind of framework and/or template engine and/or programming language? I don't see how that's all that different.

(API-less) react websites today will still be around in 10 years time. The browser has never and likely will never break JS backwards compatibility.

I think almost no audio plugins (other than those ported to mac from iOS) use a blessed apple toolchain to the extend that they could just flip a switch in Xcode. And I wouldn't be surprised if some of them have very processor specific

Well they could... The frontend can run in webkit as demonstrated by the various online versions of VSCode. There is a functional project to run nodejs on ios via V8 with jit disabled. That's probably a significant performance hit, but

It‘s about as easy to do what you describe in react native without performance issues, but like others have mentioned there is more to this pattern related to scrolling content, snap points, interaction with the content behind it...

have you actually looked at reanimated, which this uses, to see if that has the issue you describe? It sure doesn‘t block the JS thread, and I‘m pretty sure it doesn‘t block the "native" layout thread either? I‘m not 100% on that
