Thanks for the information. I guess it's that I can't comprehend the scale required to make that much of an impact. It's easier (for me) to think at the single unit.

The thing that stands out to me is how inefficient kettles are in terms of power usage. Is it a simple case of more power equals shorter time to boil? Is there a more efficient way to turn electricity to heat?

I got the impression from the article that their experiment had very little planning from the statement about it being to prove it was good and then celebrate. This probably means it was a straight X% of traffic A/B test and the results wer

> The amount of stuff that users are buying should be pretty much the _only_ metric you care about. I agree if Etsy is a 100% commerce focused, but they aren't. Key to their success has been their ability to build up a community and sel

One possible reason the market hasn't been locked up is mentioned in the article. Each of the services he tried had a different type of members. I think if there's an opportunity it's not one of one-service-conquers-all. Small niche dating

Apart from all the industries, services and products that exist because of by-products and waste, you are correct. Businesses don't have to worry about waste and can still be successful. However, I'd argue that eating healthy and exercising

An important part of any business model is how to deal with by-products (aka waste).

Having white on black and black on white next to each other makes it hard to transition. Hiding nav mobile-style on a desktop is an extra click for no reason. There's a lot of work into how it looks, but very little into how it will actuall

Agreed. Also, assuming you could create a successful predictive model the advantage would be short term. All coaches would hop on the bandwagon.

Looks amazing! Nice work. I'd recommend changing "Take a random photo" to "Use a random photo". The take action for photo is generally understood to be different to the one you are using it for.

It's more likely that items on sale are sold at a net loss. The cost of simply having stock is more than you'd think. As an example, I ran an ecommerce site for a hardware company and after 30 days in stock laptops were no longer profitable

I disagree that clients have the position of power. The nibbles in freelancing usually come towards the end of delivery, rather than the start when the project scope and costs are negotiated. This means the freelancer has the power, because

True. If the freelancer treated the nibbles as a negotiation instead of requests it might go a lot differently.

Since the question is about what I (the reader) would do, I'll answer it from that POV. I'm 35 and I've had that feeling ever since I can remember. To me it's a feeling of wanting growth and movement in all aspects of my life. I adopted the

I found it hard to agree or disagree with you, because I couldn't imagine how images would be a more convenient than text to communicate. I would have loved more detail around the new use cases you see being part of this 3rd wave.
