I'm sad that the SFCHA proposition [1] could not be petitioned successfully for last year's ballot in San Francisco. I thought it was an interesting one, with a progressive property tax scheme that would be used by the city to acq

I had troubles with my memory (4*16GB with a 2950X) until I realized it was configured in 1T command rate by default. Things appear to be rock stable in 2T. Anyway, yeah, memory is more tricky than it should on Ryzen.

Doesn't buildbot have dynamic workers implemented as latent workers? [1] What do you mean by underpowered buildbot steps? Are you implementing your own step classes? [1] https://docs.buildbot.net/current/manual

I would love to do frontend web development but the current high-churn Javascript ecosystem makes me dizzy; this is probably a naive question but will it be possible to do web-development without integrating in the Javascript ecosystem usin

If you rely on your type being "flexible" I would argue that you have a design problem.

I use MoinMoin for that ( https://moinmo.in/ ) it's pretty awesome (and portable). Right now I just run the whole thing out of a Mercurial repo (it's easy to use the MoinMoin codebase as a sub-repo [1]), but I'

The cost is definitely bandwidth, Snapchat doesn't have much of a storage problem as snaps have an actual TTL.

Thank you! Yes, I was referring to my work on lightsd. I didn't know about Suse's OBS until this thread, I guess I need to look into it. I have been building my own CI/CD pipeline on top of Buildbot so far. It's a PITA,

While I agree with a lot of this as well, I feel like downstream packaging has a lot of issues. I'm working on a project (licensed under the GPLv3) and I have decided to be my own maintainer, i.e: building and distributing packaged ver

Isn't the ability to sell their phone in other markets (e.g: APAC) a clear desire to win? I'm not gonna buy or recommend a phone if I know my competitors can tap into it anytime?

That's good to know. I don't feel like my original question was answered though: why the Eero repeater would get a better signal than another good WiFi solution at the same location? How do you get a strong signal to repeat from?

If you need a repeater somewhere well, like your laptop, your repeater isn't going to have a good connection with the base station. Most homes make it really hard to deploy WiFi properly, especially in the 5ghz band, I don't see h

Oh, I'm not aware of this bug, are you talking about https://github.com/dotcloud/docker/issues/339 ? In any case, don't hesitate to open a new issue on github!

You don't need to have btrfs to run Docker (you need aufs which is included in Debian and Ubuntu). Yes, in the end images are an entire filesystem and can be large if you installed a lot of packages (or very small, e.g: busybox). Yes, you c

WYSIWYG editors are not an example of intuitiveness either, most people don't get the concept of Style in MS Word like editors. For that, I find the hierarchy macros of Latex much simpler to apprehend as well as lot of goodies: footnotes, r
