As it stands, I only see codeacademy being useful for programmers who are new to Javascript. If you're completely new to programming, there are too many problems, like the article mentions, that are difficult to get past without knowing...

It sounds like in this case, this guy might be a good candidate - look at all the effort he put in and his ability to remember things, think critically, and learn. On the other hand, there are plenty of competent programmers not willing to

Similar experience here. Been watching HN's hiring posts for 6 months or so, replied to many, received about 3 responses. I know I'm no John Carmack, but I've had a $100K+ offer (for a telecommuting position), and have a $100K offer (again,

I can't switch away from Notepad++ to any editor that lacks instantaneous, no-hassle (no extra key presses), buttery smooth current buffer word auto-complete.

I applaud your enthusiasm, and while I look forward to a future where some degree of logical reasoning and programming skills are commonplace, looking around at a world where it's rare to find a human who is literate with their own spoken a

It is very easy to build a form and some views in Lotus Notes. The result is armies of people not qualified to write programs starting creating Notes "crapplications". Now everyone hates Notes.

That really pisses me off. I played through the whole (mediocre) game without sound. The sounds MAKE this game! They could have mentioned they only did a half-assed HTML5 implementation and used Flash for audio.

Why is it disappointing? Microsoft has become a company that produces technological advances as a side-effect of their primary goal, which is making money. They are not really interested in sharing, or promoting innovation - they are intere

Have you been paying attention to the sorts of people at the top of our capitalistic society? There are precious few who are notable for not being charlatans and con men. Ethics are for the poor, and laws can be circumvented, re-written,
