This is why I have found a favorite brand of canned tomatoes and only cook with them unless I can pick my own tomatoes or find them at the farmer's market. Supermarket tomatoes often taste terrible!

It's just not good science. Why assume "most shoveling done by men" when you could also have "women are rate limited by arms that are on average weaker" for instance? There are plenty of other ideas to float, too. A

I seem to remember something about fireplaces or wood stoves being required in new construction, as well, in order to maintain energy independence on an individual-house basis if necessary.

Tons -- if you want to look at the evidence, look at the gender and ethnic makeup of programs for kids gifted in math in the US. First-generation kids are deeply overrepresented, and by the third generations kids of any ethnicity are all eq

Isn't that how all non-Veterans Administration medical care in the US works? Genuinely curious -- my understanding is that almost all medical care profit in the US is driven by volume of procedures, and even non-profit care is reimburs

You can live on Doritos and donuts for weeks or years. You can be an ill-informed and lazy consumer and survive. I have learned when I can substitute oil for butter without problems and when it'll cause disaster. How many people on HN
