If you read the article to completion you'll note that the author addresses both of your points. He only recommends it for clients who you have a long running relationship with and who thus have a pretty good idea of what your services cost

Nice article. While I have high respect for the exposition in this article, and by extension Mr. Vogels work that the author makes a reference to, I think it's a tad too early declare eventual consistency a clear winner. In fact, I think it

Wow. After reading the article and some of the comments I'm realizing how different the cafe culture in Europe is. We have been living in the Bay Area for a number of years, so it's not like I haven't seen the droves of people sitting silen

I just recently wrote some code to do pcb milling with pretty close tolerances. The actual milling table wasn't straight however, so when the substrate was clamped down it would have Z variations 3x larger than the desired cutting depth. A

Moon's orbit is usually depicted around the Earth. Even if the choice is arbitrary it's also customary to claim that an object orbits the closest large mass, or more precisely the object and the large mass orbit the center of mass of the co

If you are designing a high availability application it is probably prudent to assume a single cluster will provide roughly 99% uptime (if the operators are good). So multi-homing across several locations and providers makes a lot of sense

Given the realtime GC is not done nobody really knows. However, the design goal is to have the GC interrupt time to be linear to the stack of your go-routine (with small constants). Thus you should have at least some control over event late

Most of Google infrastructure is soft realtime so GC delays have definitely been a concern. The memory footprint for a simple hello.go on arm using 5g is currently ~70k with the optimizer not yet enabled. I'm planning to do some work on a A
