Pro tip: avoid `int`s as much as possible in your C code. Use <stdint.h> defined macros instead.

It is a hardware design issue. There's a concept of N+1 redundancy in safety-critical systems, a hardware design decision. This basic philosophy was missing from the MCAS system[1]. You can argue that the software could just ignore bad

Sony WH-1000XM3: I've used several ANC headphones before. None of those come close to this. Sound quality is extremely good too. Good battery life. A 15 minutes charge gives me 5 hours of playback. On the negatives: A bit heavier than

If the author had explained a real reason for abandoning Python in favor of Go, it would've made a lot more sense to write this article. "Not feeling it right" isn't how engineers choose their tools. He could've sai

If you're gathering data through multiple sensors data from one end, and pushing it out to network from another, the performance of the 4-core ARM CPU should be the least of your concerns. You are never going to reach 100% CPU utilizat

Genuine question: Is iCloud any more insecure than any other cloud service? I was thinking of shifting a lot of stuff to it.

I don’t care how many protocols you think you have designed, or how many years have you worked in your field. If you can’t see how `{n: 1.2}` and `{n:1.23}` in JSON have a one-byte difference while still giving essentially same data, you ha

I hope by “flying” they mean “levitating”. I can barely fly my toy drone without getting pinged by Government about how I am violating airspace rules. Can’t imagine there will be flying bikes in next 50 years atleast. I am in EU.

Arduino hardware is barely capable of running a simple one-variable PID loop at a high sampling rate, say 1Khz. A rocket control software will require a full-blown MIMO model with complex transfer functions. You'll also need high ports

A YouTube channel named UnboxTherapy posted a video showing keyboard problems with the latest gen butterfly switch. The switch design is inherently flawed, no amount of rubber can fix that. They need to go back to whatever they had in 2013.

Yes, it has a GPIO header that has pins that mux to a limited number of periphals. You can attach an oscilloscope to any GPIO.

I'm an embedded software engineer. Here's my $0.02 on how to get started: 1. Get a platform you can tinker around with, and recover quickly in case of disaster. Raspberry pi is a good example. 2. Learn how to find and read detaile

Not sure how that's going to be possible, but there's a need for big companies to "fork" open data before massively manipulating it. And merge with main system if everything works for them, hence contributing positively

I think the key takeaway from this article is to keep the "framework" and "technology" terms substantially differentiable. For example, "React Engineer" as a job title is quite infuriating, if you ask me.
